THE NEW METHOD OF ORIENTAL TINTING
BY NATHANIEL WHITTOCK, ESQ.

This book of instruction was originally printed in London in 1829.  Alice D. Smith has captured every bit of it in this HSEAD hardcover reprint.  The "colour" prints in the original are reproduced in full page size in black and white; but most of them are shown in their original brilliance in the set of 4 x 6 color photos that accompany the book.

Twenty illustrated lessons cover the painting of a wide variety of flowers, as well as fruits (4 lessons), and concluding with shells (2 lessons).  This is followed by the sections on Oriental Tinting, Velvet Painting, and the painting of a group of fruit and a group of flowers.

A must-have for theorem and other painters!  Reproduced in hardcover by HSEAD.
