The Schnader Chair Collection

These free hand bronze and painted chair designs were executed by Raymond Schnader of Royerstown, Lancaster County, PA, in the 1940s.  The designs are from his furniture restoration work.  The Maryland Chapter of HSEAD bought the designs from the Schnader estate, and donated them to HSEAD.  A sample of one pattern set is shown on this page, reduced in size.

Each design consists of one 8.5 x 11 digital color photo page showing one to three design fragments, depending on the chair they came from, along with a tracing of the pattern from which they were made.  The patterns are complete with second slat if any, and any additional striping and decoration.   The actual size of the chairback design above is appr. 9.5 inches wide, and the design fragment at left is about 3.75 inches.  The one below is about 3.5 inches wide.  These three come together as a set, on one picture page.

Our catalog pictures show only the left side of the main slat, to help you decide which ones you want to buy.  The pictures on this and the following pages are Copyright © HSEAD, Inc. 2002

The patterns are available by mail, from the HSEAD office.  A printed five page color catalog with these images is also available to members.
