If you have always wanted to learn the traditional water gilding technique, but didn't know how to get started, this class is for you. The steps required to produce a brilliant, burnished gold finish will be taught: preparing and applying the glue, gesso and clay base, laying and burnishing leaf, then finishing with toning and distressing. Students will complete small gilt frames as well as sample pieces. This class will be fast-paced and fun, with a few surprises as well.

A materials fee of  65.00 will cover instructor supplied clay, gesso, glue, pigments and enough leaf for the class projects. A gilding tool kit (tip, pad, knife, burnisher, etc.) will be required.  Students will be contacted prior to class to determine their needs. Students without gilding tools should plan on spending approximately 100.00 - 125.00 on tools. Additional information will be sent prior to class.

Note:  This is not a restoration class, but these projects can be discussed if time permits.
