Bandboxes and hatboxes were a practical and decorative American craft made during the early 1800’s.  They protected many valuables for men and women in their homes and as they traveled.

I will give some background on antique box construction, wallpapers, and values.  Each student will make a stack of three bandboxes, constructed of cardboard, hand-sewn together, covered with wallpaper, lined with reproduction 1800’s newspaper, and labeled. There will be a choice of four wallpapers with additional kits for sale for the speedy worker.

Lab fee$30.  I will supply the following materials for three boxes:  Cardboard, wallpaper, lining, label, punch, needle, thread, primer, paste, clips and smoothing tool

Student supply list will be sent upon class confirmation.
