Some Features of the Meeting

Old Sturbridge Village, The Sturbridge Host Hotel and the Charter Oak Chapter of HSEAD are joining forces to make the spring meeting and get-away a memorable time for all of you!  See the Fall Newsletter for details of these features!

• An Extra Day.  Come to Sturbridge on Thursday, May 8^th to visit Old Sturbridge Village on your own.  A special $15 pass will be good for four days, Thursday through Sunday.  (Regular price is $20 a day.) 

• VIP Tours Two VIP tours will take place in the Village on Friday morning, May 9^th.

  • OSV archives - country painting, reverse glass, primitive portraits, textiles, painted furniture, etc…all the things you love to see!

  • The OSV Costume Workshop - where period seasonal costumes are designed, produced and stored for use by OSV interpreters

  • Both tours include the OSV clock museum - where a well-known authority on the clock collection will be available to share information.

  • (50 people need to register for the VIP tours for us to offer them at a reasonable price.  Otherwise, you can take advantage of the $15 pass to visit the Village or investigate the town of Sturbridge on Friday morning before the meeting opens.  Breakfast and lunch are at your personal discretion)

• Special Visitor's Center Exhibit - especially mounted to celebrate HSEAD.  A gift shop and book store in an adjacent building will also be available for your shopping pleasure. 

• Saturday Slide Show  - Nan Wolverton, Museum Consultant and former Curator of Decorative Arts at OSV, will speak and show slides of some of the most interesting pieces of decorated furniture in the OSV archives, plain and fancy.

• Program Speakers - Ina and Allan Marx, Jeane Gearin, Dorothy Hamblett, and Nancy Goyne Evans.

• Interactive Gallery  - Sunday Breakfast and an interactive gallery featuring antique painted furniture, plain and fancy,  presented by members.

• Raffle and Sales Table

• Mother's Day Brunch - May 11.
