Hudson Valley Chapter Quilt Raffle

Burgoyne Surrounded

Quilt made by Robert K. Flachbarth

This lovely quilt, made by member by Robert Flachbarth, will be raffled May 14, 2011 at the Annual Meeting of HSEAD.

Bob writes:

Like those that we copy in HSEAD this pattern is one that has been around a long time.  It is called Burgoyne Surrounded, and I selected this pattern as it refers to Burgoyne's defeat at the Battle of Saratoga (1777) which is within our chapter's area.

The quilt is made of a tomato red and an off white cotton fabrics.  It was made last summer over the course of four weeks.  I pieced the quilt and then had it machine quilted by an acquaintance, Linda Denner.  It is a queen size quilt which measures 84 inches by 102 inches.”

Raffle tickets for the quilt are $5.00 each or five for $20.00.  They can be purchased from Hudson Valley Chapter members or at the workshop and national meetings held in the fall and spring.  Proceeds go to the Hudson Valley Chapter to help defray meeting expenses that they are incurring while hosting the national meeting in Albany, NY in May of 2011.
