The
Genesee Country Chapter cordially welcomed all HSEAD
members and the public to join them at the
Clarion Riverside Hotel in Rochester, NY for the Spring 2007
National meeting, on May 4-6, 2007.
A very different program was presented
focusing on many aspects of memorial art that a
myriad of artists have left behind to serve as remembrances that “they were
here”. Topics to be explored included early samplers,
love tokens, rewards of merit, silhouettes, coverlets and quilts signed by
makers,
mourning and
memorials in the form of painting and jewelry, as well as gravestone art.
A lively and informative program of speakers was planned with slide presentations as well as antique examples to complement their talks. Also a museum tour and demonstrations highlighted Saturday’s program. Several area museums and private individuals agreed to loan related artifacts for the Exhibition.
The
featured item of the raffle was a
stenciled coverlet on antique linen, which had
been reproduced by chapter members. The pattern is from one found at the
Holland Land Office in Batavia, New York. Click

Genesee Country Chapter was very excited to present an American decorative art subject, which had not been explored at a National meeting. The Chapter welcomed all to the city of Rochester and Western New York State.
